MNIT Jaipur Students Wins Silver Medal in India Skills 2016 15/07/2016 To 17/07/2016

Under the aegis of "World Skills-2017" being held at Abu Dhabi, "https://www.worldskills.org/" national level competitions for 24 skills, "India Skills 2016" were held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 15 -17 July 2016 " http://www.worldskillsindia.co.in".
MNIT Jaipur's 3rd year B Tech Mechanical Engineering student Arvind Singh Rathore associated to "CAM Society" and "Advanced Manufacturing & Mechatronics Lab" under guidance of Dr. Harlal Singh Mali, won second position in "Mechanical-CAD" Skill category. He won a cash prize of Rs. 75,000, a Trophy, a certificate and chance to represent India in "World Skills-2017" being held at Abu Dhabi. The prizes were distributed by none other than India's Honorable Minister of Skill Development Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
The competition went on for 3 days in total with 3 modules, first one was "Mechanical Assemblies and Detailed Drawing for Manufacture" where the competitors were given detailed drawings of a engine mechanism and they had to model it in Autodesk Inventor and then create detailed drawings mentioning the surface finishing of various surfaces and the required GD&T. The second module was "Mechanical Fabrication and Design Challenge", where the competitors were given detailed drawings of a "Complicated Fixture" that they had to model in Autodesk Inventor and also a switch mechanism they had to innovate without any drawings and fix it to the Fixture. Third and the final module was "Reverse Engineering" where a component was given to the competitors that contained lots of small features that they had to measure using hand tools like Digital Vernier Caliper, Digital Micrometer, Universal Bevel Protractor, Radius and Fillet Gauges, and Pitch Gauge etc., and then model the component in Inventor, and create its detailed drawings.
The selection to the finals in Mechanical CAD, was based on preliminary rounds conducted all over the country with thousands of contestants mainly undergraduate students below the age of 21 years.
